Press Release: MAN Alumni Holds Her National Convention

All is now set for the National Convention of the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO) billed to take place in Oron and Uyo from 1st to 3rd of November, 2017. The event tagged, “IBOM 2017” with the theme Maritime Frontiers: Reflection of the Past, Vision for the future”, would feature paper presentations on Thursday, 2nd November, 2017 by captains and master mariners in the maritime industry from 10:40 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. and a Novelty Football Match between the AMANO Football Stars and MAN All-Stars Football club by 4:00 p.m. at the Academy football field.

On the 3rd of November, 2017 the event will continue in Uyo with more paper presentations in the afternoon and an Award/Gala Night in Emerald Event Centre.

The Alumni were received earlier today at the Ibom International Airport and a guard-of-honour mounted by Cadets of the Academy.

In a chat with the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Siddi E. Mkpandiok in his office, the AMANO President,Engr. Austin Umezurike said the AMANO as an umbrella body of ex-cadets of the institution, to ensure them would serve as a source of inspiration to cadets of the Academy that their future is bright and secured.

 

The AMANO President who emphasised the importance of for symbiotic relationship between the Alumni and the Academy noted that such would serve the interests of the Cadets, the Academy and the Maritime Sector of the nation as a whole.

 He added that AMANO was working on its website which according to him would bridge the gap between the Alumni and Cadets of the Academy, as well as serve the interest of the populace of the Academy.

Responding the elated MAN Image Maker, described the home-coming of the ex-cadets to contribute to the development of their alma mater as a dream come true, stressing that the commencement of AMANO activities with its first-ever Annual Convention in the main campus was indicative of reliable goals and sustainable goodwill.

He expressed the hope that partnership would enhance the respect and wellbeing of all parties concerned.

He thanked the President for his focused leadership and wished the Alumni a splendid outing in their programmes, both in Oron and Uyo.
