The Acting Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Mr. M. A. He gave the assurance in his remarks during the visit of the Managing Director POSEIDON Simulation AS of Norway to the Academy recently, to revive the Academy’s Simulators for use by the Cadets and Students of the Institution in practical training.

The Acting Rector emphasised that the specialised nature of training offered in the Academy makes it necessary for all educational facilities to functional at all times to enable the Acaademy render its mandate creditably to young Nigerians.

Reiterating that given the number of years the Academy has existed, it deserves to be on the world map as a centre for excellence in maritime training and education, he stressed “We will do everything within our capability to recover the performances of our Simulators and get them working within the shortest possible time, we are ready to repair and procure equipment for practical use by our Cadets”.

Earlier, the Managing Director, POSEIDON Simulators AS, Bjarne Pederson who appreciated the Management for the confidence reposed in his company said they are specialised in serving customers even in remote areas, as efficiently as in cosmopolititan environments.

Pederson stated that his organisation would not hesitate to offer any service within their area of speciality to place the nation’s premier maritime training institution at par with its counterparts world over.

He advised the Management to move away from the past practice where equipment upon arrival had stayed in the container longer than expected, a situation he said was not good for any sensitive equipment of that nature, and also stressed the need to always adhere strictly to building specifications to ensure that problems such as the systems encountered shortly after installations do not recur.

Hopes were raised when he announced after the inspection, “we had thought the equipment was now a junk, it is possible to revive the Simulators and upgrade the systems with the latest data/ information”.

The POSEIDON official further promised that henceforth, the company’s Service Personnel would visit the academy more regularly to carry out a thorough technical evaluation and render services that would ensure effective workability of the facility.
