He expressed satisfaction over the children’s’ home proprietor’s passion to identify with the stigmatised children while encouraging her not to relent in her effort to help the less privileged as the reward is great. “We came to show solidarity and to encourage you not to relent in your effort at helping the poor and needy in our society” he stressed.

Dr. Okpo promised to support the home by providing both food items and educational materials for the children as part of Academy’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Welcoming the Rector and entourage, the Caretaker of the children’s home, Mr Abia Edemumoh promised to convey the good will of the Academy’s Management to out of station founder of the Children’s Home, Mrs. Mary Okpoyo who was not around as at the time of the visitation, and thanked the Rector for his kind gesture towards the children.

He used the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Joshua Okpo on his re-appointment as the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron and encouraged him to continue in pushing his vision for the Academy to the fore and not be deterred by the attempts of his critics as their blackmail are baseless and empty.

He further noted that the home which was established with the sole aim to cater for the less privileged is poised to groom the children for various leadership positions in the future. He prayed for God’s blessings for the Rector and his team and promised to keep the mission of the home alive, now and always.

The high point of the event was the presentation of food items comprising 10 bags of rice, cartons of tin tomatoes, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of indomie, toiletries and various other items to the Caretaker of the Children’s Home.
