MARITIME ACADEMY OF NIGERIA, ORON

2015/2016 HND, PGD AND ND (SPECIAL COURSES) ADMISSION

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Higher National Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma programmes of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron for the 2015/2016 Academic Session.

 

PROGRAMMES:

 

[A]       HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA in:

            a)         Nautical Science (2 years)                                                

            b)        Marine Engineering (2 years)

            c)        Maritime Transport & Business Management (2 years)

 

ADMISSION REQUEIRMENTS:

 

Candidates must:

 

i)             Satisfy all the requirements for admission into the National Diploma Programme in the relevant programme

ii)            Posses a National Diploma Certificate from the Academy or from a recognised institution with a minimum of LOWER CREDIT; and 

iii)           Must have undergone a one year Post-ND industrial attachment or acquired cognate Work Experience in relevant establishment or organization. 

 

 

[B]       POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1.            PGD Shipping and Transport Management (one year)

 

a)            Applicants must possess a good Honours Degree (B.Sc.) or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business or Social Science from a recognised University or Polytechnic.

b)            Membership of relevant Professional body will be an added advantage.

c)            Candidates with qualifications equivalent to (a) above may be considered for admission based on maturity and length of service in the maritime industry.

 

2.            PGD Maritime Transport Technology (One year)

 

a)         Applicants must possess a good Honours Degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in the Physical Sciences or Engineering from a recognised University or Polytechnic.

b)         Membership of relevant Professional body will be an added advantage.

c)         Candidates with qualifications equivalent to (a) above may be considered for admission based on maturity and length of service in the maritime industry.

 

 

 

 

3.        PGD Maritime Engineering (Two Years)

a)         Applicants must possess a good Honours Degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering from a recognised University or Polytechnic.

b)         1st Class Marine Engineering Certificate (Foreign Going).

c)         Candidates with qualifications equivalent to (a) above may be considered for admission based on maturity and length of service in the Maritime industry.

d)         Membership of relevant professional body will be an added advantage.

 

 

 

IMPORTANT NOTE:  All candidates for the HND and PGD programmes must

request the schools they attended to send the Transcripts of their Academic Records to the Academy under confidential cover.

 

 

[C]    NATIONAL DIPLOMA (SPECIAL COURSES)

 

Candidates wishing to offer any of the following National Diploma Programmes grouped under special courses of the Academy should apply to the Academy using the following on-line address: macademyoron.org/portal/students.

           

The courses are:

 

1.    ND – Electrical/Electronics Engineering

2.    ND – Marine Meteorology and Oceanography

3.    ND – Hydrology and Fisheries Science

 

Duration:

 

All ND courses under special courses are for two (2) years duration

Academic requirements

Applicants must be holders of Senior School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT PASSES in the following subject, obtained at NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS:

·         English Language

·         Mathematics

·         Physics/Geography

·         And any two of Chemistry, Agricultures Science, Biology.

 

Physical Fitness

Applicants who may be male or female must be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the requirements of cadetship training.

 

Marital Status:

Applicants who must be single shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme.

 

Age Limit:

Applicants for admission into National Diploma programme in Marine Meteorology and Oceanography or Hydrology and Fisheries Science should be between the ages of 16 and 25 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

ND – Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Academic requirements:

Applicants must be holders of Senior School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT PASSES in the following subjects, obtained at NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS:

·         Mathematics

·         Physics

·         And any two of Chemistry, Technical Drawing and General Science.

Applicants for admission into National Diploma programme in Electrical/Electronics Engineering of the Academy should be between the ages of 16 and 25 years at the time of commencement of the programme.

 

METHOD OF APPLICATION

 

There are two methods in which Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron Admission Form can be purchased

a]        Online Payment

b]        Bank Payment

 

 

BANK PAYMENT:

 

Applicants should visit any branch of the First Bank Plc or any Commercial Bank (nationwide) to purchase the Maritime Academy Admission PIN at the cost of N10,000.00 only for all courses.

Log in with payment PIN on your receipt (This is a 16 character Alphanumeric pin i.e 123456789012ABCD). The default password is “man2015” which can be changed after login.  

 

ONLINE PAYMENT:

 

The application form can be purchased online by clicking on the Online Payment Option on the registration portal www.macademyoron.org

 

a.    Use either:  Master Card, Verve or Visa Card (Note that the card must be pre-funded for a successful transaction).

 

b.    Entre basic information to proceed to the payment page.

(An additional charge of N300.00 will be applied to the transaction).

 

PROCEDURE (FOR ONLINE PAYMENT ONLY)

 

a.    Visit macademyoron.org, on the LOG IN PAGE

b.    Click the button BELOW that is labelled ‘Click here to pay online’

c.    Fill in the form

d.    Click “Proceed” button to proceed to payment page

e.    Upon successful payment, click on the “Print” button to print your online receipt.

 

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE (AFTER SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT)

 

a.    Login, upload your passport, fill in the form correctly and save the form

b.    Do not click on the submit checkbox until you are ready to submit after filling form 1, 2 and 3

c.    Click on print photo card to print your photo card and ensure you come with it and your payment evidence to the examination centre.

 

CLOSING DATE:

 

Closing date for the submission of application forms is May 29, 2015.

 

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

 

There will be an Entrance Examination into National Diploma (ND) programmes on Saturday July 18, 2015.
